Memphis, Feb. 10 |
The superintendent of the Memphis & Ohio railroad
{Thomas Dodamead} was at Paris yesterday.
He returned to this city last night. He sent a man with an engine from
Paris to within half a mile of Danville. Mr. Jones walked from the
engine to the Tennessee river bridge -- says he found two hundred and
fifty federals occupying the bridge. Mr. Jones conversed with the
federals. They said they would have possession of the whole road in two
weeks. The federals have not injured the bridge in the least. There was
only one gunboat at Tennessee river bridge at 3 o'clock yesterday. |
