Died |
At Richmond, Va., July 14, 1862, Mr. John McLeod, of
Kershaw District, S. C., in the 48th year of his age. |
The deceased had gone to Richmond to visit his sons,
who were in the army near that place, and, on his arrival, in the taking
his trunk from the car, it being night, the car was pressed back at an
unexpected moment, and he was caught between them, and so mutilated,
that he survived but a few hours. Before he died, however, he requested
Mr. Harman Arrants, who had accompanied him, to bring his remains back,
which he did. ***** |
