Richard Courtnay, a conductor on the Central {(of Georgia)} Railroad, was examined before Justices E. C. Granniss and H. Wood yesterday, on the charge of having pushed the lad William L. Ferrill off the cars on Saturday last, and thereby causing his death. Mr. Courtnay, by clear and incontestable evidence provided an Alibi, and he was consequently discharged. The only evidence against him was the declaration of the lad Ferrill, and the statement of another lad, that he saw a man whom he supposed and believed was the conductor, shove Ferrill off the platform. Mr. Courtnay has ever borne an unblemished reputation for integrity and moral worth. Col. L. N. Whittle appeared for the city, and Col. O. A. Lochrane for Mr. Courtnay.
