Another New Locomotive |
The Macon & Western Rail
Road machine shop, in this city, turned out upon their Road,
yesterday, a very beautiful new Locomotive, made wholly within their
shops, except that the iron castings were produced at the
Foundry of the Messrs Schofield. This engine has been named the "Victory"
-- weighs about forty-five thousand pounds, and is designed for the
freighting business. In her entire structure and finish -- even of the
ornamental and decorative parts -- we venture to say she will compare
most honorably with any locomotive engine now running in Georgia. Long
may the Victory triumph over time, space and burden, in the service of
the company. |
{This was not a new
locomotive, but a rebuild of the Griffin. The "new"
locomotive was named Victory.} |
