| A Night of Storm |
| Last night was one of the
wildest sort -- the rain pouring, lightning flashing, and thunder
pealing. ***** |
| The above description of the
heavy rain of last Tuesday night, is from the pen of the poet lauret
of the Augusta Chronicle and Sentinel. |
| The rain did extensive damage
to the South-western Railroad, it as will be several days before
trains will commence running again. About 35 miles from Macon, on the
Central {(of Georgia)} Road, a break in
the embankments delayed the trains for several hours, but the trains
are now running regular schedule time. We have heard of no damage to
the Macon & Brunswick Road. |
