Mobile & Great Northern Railroad |
The Mobile Register of the
18th says that notwithstanding the times, the work on this road goes
bravely on. It adds the following interesting intelligence:
"Notwithstanding the times, the work on this road goes bravely
on; this is as it should be. We have lately seen a letter from Col.
Pollard, president of the Alabama & Florida {of
Alabama} railroad, stating that his road will be in operation
between Montgomery and Pensacola by the first of July next. In view of
this fact, it is highly important for the commercial interests of
Mobile that the Great Northern railroad should also be running between
the Alabama & Florida railroad and the Tensas river next fall, so
as to be able to take off the cotton crop. |
