From the Meridian Clarion, June 4 |
Canton, Miss., May 29 |
The locomotive whistle now
falls familiarly on the ears of Cantonians, as the {Mississippi}
Central railroad is now "navigable" to Oxford. The
repairs on the N. O., J. & G. N. {New
Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern} railroad, between this
place and Jackson, will be finished within the nest week. Col. Sam
Tate has been superintending the reconstruction of these roads, and he
is a thorough-going and successful railroad man, as you are aware. |
