The enemy, on the retreat from
Fredericksburg, left the railroad track to Aquia Creek in perfect
condition. The officers of the Richmond and Fredericksburg railroad
company {Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac
RR} are diligently removing the
rails, for which they feel very much obliged. On Monday night, our
people set fire to and consumed the wharves and warehouses left by the
Yankees at Aquia Creek landing. We had no use for them, and to leave
them was like inviting the Yankees to land there again. |
