Southern {(of
Mississippi)} Railroad |
At a meeting of the board of
managers of the Southern railroad at Selma, Ala., recently, steps were
taken to turn over to the Government the stock owned in the company by
V. F. Wits and A. B. Reading, of Vicksburg, who have become alien
enemies. By this action of the board, there were four vacancies to be
filled in the directory -- the vacancies occasioned by the death of
Messrs. Wm. C. Smedes and Joseph H. Johnston having never been filled,
in consequence of the impossibility of obtaining a quorum. Lieut.
Thos. M. Smedes, Col. Thos. S. Dabney, Geo. Smedes, Esq., and Lieut.
Geo. Donnellan, were elected to fill the vacancies. |
