Arrest |
Wm. Dean, a private in company
H, 3d Tennessee regiment, was arrested and placed in jail yesterday
for assuming to control the up train on the East Tennessee &
Georgia railroad. He rang the bell thereby stopping the train, and
endangering the lives of all on board, as they were at the time not
far from the station for meeting the down train, and the interruption
might have produced a collision. If the officers or soldiers are
thoughtless enough thus to jeopardize their own lives and those of
their fellow passengers, we learn that the company will prosecute the
offenders to the full extent of the law, and will not permit its
conductors to be interfered with in the discharge of their duty with
impunity. |
