The Bibb iron works are about
fifteen miles from Oxford, Ala. The works are to be extended, and a
railroad is being built from Blue mountain to the works, ten miles.
This road is in the hands of the Government, a company of stockholders
and individuals. At present there are two reliefs at the works, and
the furnaces are never allowed to get cold, day, night nor Sunday. |
