By the order of Maj. Gen.
Gilmer, which appears in another column, it will be seen that it has
been determined to construct a temporary railway track to connect the {Atlantic
&} Gulf railroad with the large grist and flouring mills in
the eastern part of the city. This measure has been found necessary in
order to economize transportation in the conveyance of grain to and
meal and flour from the mill for distribution to the troops of this
department. The arrangement will not only be a great convenience, but
will be a saving of both time and expense to the Government. |
