Letters From Vicksburg |
Special Correspondence of the Memphis
Appeal |
Vicksburg, March 14, 1863 |

The cars on the Southern {(of
Mississippi)} railroad have made the last three trips safely
without an accident, and the signs are encouraging that there will be
an improvement in this important route of transportation. The election
of Victor F. Wilson as president of the Southern railroad company is
the best thing the directors ever done, and under his vigilant eye we
have every reason to hope there will soon be an apparent improvement.
