We learn from the New Orleans
Crescent that W. D. Foster, the engineer of the lumber train
which collided with the train containing troops last Tuesday on the
Jackson railroad {New Orleans, Jackson & Great
Northern RR}, with such fatal effects, has been arrested on the
charge of manslaughter. He asserts his entire innocence of the affair,
and claims to have returned to New Orleans for the purpose of inviting
an investigation. |
