We learn that the high waters
have caused considerable damage to the railroads leading from this
city {Jackson}. The new bridge near
Vicksburg, where the accident recently occurred, has been washed away;
and between Jackson and Meridian the track is injured so as to allow
of the passage of but very light trains. The bridge over the Chunkey
has been rebuilt. On the Central road above Canton we learn one bridge
was washed away. All these hindrances to travel will be removed in a
day or two. |
