On Saturday a fine looking
man, we learn, while standing on one track, engaged in looking at a
train coming in on another, near the Novelty Iron works, on the
Western & Atlantic railroad, was run over by a shifting train, and
so horribly mangled that he died in a few moments. The engineer saw
him, blew his whistle, haloed to the unfortunate man to get off, and
endeavored to check his engine, but all in vain. Who he was we could
not ascertain. Another warning to stand off the track and look out for
the engine when the whistle blows. |
