Central Mississippi and Vicksburg |
A private letter from
Lexington, Miss., dated October 26th, gives us late information as to
the situation in Central Mississippi and Vicksburg. ***** the
Mississippi Central railroad, which is running from Canton to Oxford,
and the New Orleans, Great Northern and Jackson {New
Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern} railroad, now being
operated from Canton as far as Madison station, within ten miles of
Jackson, and repairs are rapidly being made to work it to that city.
The bridges over Pearl river, at Jackson, are also being built, and an
early connection of all the roads centering at the capital of
Mississippi is anticipated. ***** |
