The following intelligence we
copy from the Madison, Ark. Pioneer: Mr. Richardson informs us that
this work will grow more rapidly than ever. The timbers and lumber are
at Hopefield, and is the finest lot we have ever seen. It was sawed
above Pittsburg, Pa., on the Alleghany river, and is all white pine.
There are timbers 6 by 10 inches and 80 feet long, and plank 16 inches
wide, 2 inches thick, and 80 feet long among the lot. The bridge will
be a fine one, and a credit to the road. The timbers will be framed at
Hopefield and sent over on the cars to be put up and will be raised as
fast as they arrive. They hope by the 1st of May to see the ????? |
