The new machine shop of the
Mobile & Ohio railroad, located at Jackson, Tennessee, is doing a large
amount of useful work. We are pleased to learn from the West Tennessee
Whig that the enterprising president and general superintendent,
Judge Brown and Col. Fleming, design such an extension of the facilities
in this shop since being cut off from the North that they will be able
to do all their own work there, even their own locomotives. If this
should be done, the Whig says that the shop will employ from
three to four hundred hands. |
