Railroad Matters |
Geo. B. Fleece, Esq., the able
superintendent of our (the M. C. & L. {Memphis,
Clarksville & Louisville RR}) and the Memphis Branch
railroad, has received from Gen. Johnston the appointment of
superintendent of the Louisville & Nashville road. The lines over
which he thus has control extend from Bowling Green to Paris, and from
Bowling Green to Nashville. This appointment is very honorable to Mr.
Fleece, since it was tendered to him, by Gen. Johnston, from the
latter's observation of Mr. F's. excellent management of the road from
here to Bowling Green. He was highly complimented thereupon, when he
received the latter appointment, and very justly too, for there are
but few men who under the difficulties and perplexities of the past
six months, could have managed the road so successfully and
satisfactorily as he has done. |
