Samuel B. Jones, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Memphis & Ohio Railroad, is in this city,
having brought on a portion of the rolling stock of his road, which
has been turned over to the Charlotte {&
South Carolina} Road. The Richmond & Danville and Selma,
Ala. {Alabama & Mississippi Rivers},
Roads have likewise come in for a share of the distribution. This
addition will make the Charlotte one of the best equipped roads in the
Confederacy. We learn from Mr. Jones that, with the exception of two
engines, left in Vicksburg by order of Gen. Pemberton, no engines or
stock on the Memphis & Ohio Road have been destroyed since the
fall of that city. |
