Dear Sir,

In order to expedite the
transmission of mail matter, and to prevent giving packages a wrong
direction, please call the attention of Post Masters and Editors, to a
law of the Department, requiring the name of the County and State
on each packet. We have no Office Directory, except of the old
Department, and as there has been a great many changes of the names of
offices, it is impossible to ascertain where they are, unless the name
of the County is given.
