The track on the Opelousas
Railroad {New Orleans, Opelousas & Great Western
RR} that was torn up has been again replaced, and the connection,
where the bridges have been destroyed, is now made with skiffs. The
train can only come 30 miles on this side of Algiers to Bayou des
Allemand, the balance of the route having to be made on hand cars. There
is little or no travel now over the road. |
