ReCapture of the Opelousas Railway  {New Orleans, Opelousas & Great Western RR}
   *****
Berwicks Bay, May 26th
   Capt. Fuller and 30 men proceeded down Atchafalaya Bay today, on a small gunboat and passed Brashear City. They then went up Bayou Bloueff to the Railroad bridge. From thence they took hand cars and run back to Brashear City. Here they took possession of locomotive and cars, and took Lieutenant Cox of the Federal army prisoner.
   They then had the locomotive fired up and with the train went up the road to meet the down train. This they met at the regular point of passing, and took possession of it, taking the Lieutenant and two private soldiers in charge, prisoners. They then went down within nine miles of Algiers and took up the railroad track, and cut the levee at Bell's or near there.
   After this they proceeded back to Brashear, burning all the bridges, and taking with them all the cars.
   The running stock taken consisted of three locomotives, three passenger cars, 80 box cars, 32 flat cars, and 28 stock cars.
   The party then took their boat with the prisoners and went up the bayou to New Iberia.
