Railroad progress is good. The
{Houston & Texas} Central road has
now its Clear Creek bridge repaired, and is passing freight through
now to Hollandale, without breaking bulk. We see a good deal of iron
passing through our streets for this road, and hope soon to hear of
the opening of the next ten miles. Large cargoes of iron have lately
been received by the N. O. and Texas road {Texas
& New Orleans RR}, which has more iron than enough on hand,
we believe, to complete the Texas division. The work is being pushed
rapidly ahead, and is now promised to be open early in April. |
