We learn from Col. Lewis that
the bridge over the Brazos river, on the Washington {County}
road, is not injured at all worth mentioning. It has settled
barely an inch, and that is not noticeable to the naked eye. A little
iron work will be added when it will be all that could be wished. The
bridge is constructed of Florida Pine, and is upon a plan that has
been used with universal success on railroads everywhere, by Pride and
Boomer. In fact, the "Pride and Boomer" bridge is famous all
over the country for its safety. |
