Engineer Killed |
A shocking accident occurred near the
Piedmont R. R. Depot yesterday morning. An engineer on that road,
named F. Beavers, attempted to step from the tender to the baggage
car, while the train was in motion, and his foot slipping, he fell
upon the rails, in such a position that the wheels of the cars passed
directly across his head, killing him instantly. His head was horribly
broken, the brain being mashed out of the skull. The May was sent for,
but found an inquest unnecessary. |
The man, we learn, was a citizen of
Raleigh, N. C. |
