The Coal-Fields Railroad {Western
RR} |
Mr. Wright's resolution directing the
issue to the railroad company of the $200,000 of State Bonds
appropriated last winter, having passed both Houses of the Legislature
-- the Senate unanimously -- the President and Directors met on
Saturday and resolved forthwith to let out contracts for the immediate
construction of 2 1/2 miles of road directly to the Egypt shaft. At
present the coal is necessarily wagoned over that distance, adding
materially to the cost and to the breakage by additional handling.
Some hundred or two tons have been brought down and shipped for Mr.
Browne of Charleston, and more will be brought almost daily. |
