The Southern Pacific Railroad |
The work on the Southern
Pacific Railroad continues in rapid progress, notwithstanding the hard
times and the uncertainly of political affairs. The subcontractors
report good progress. About 500 sacks of corn, 25 or 30 barrels of
pickled pork, and other provisions, have arrived for the hands and are
ready for distribution. Col. Holman left here last week, intending to
send $2,000 worth of provisions from Shreveport, and a larger amount
after he reached the City. |
