Fire on the Railroad |
A freight car on the N. C. Railroad,
yesterday, between Charlotte and this place took fire and was consumed
with its contents, delaying the arrival of the train for about two
hours. The fire was fortunately discovered in time to prevent its
reaching other cars in the train, though it was with much difficulty
the burning car was separated from the rest. |
We are also informed that a small bridge
beyond Lexington, was burnt yesterday, and that there is consequently
a temporary interruption of the running of trains on that part of the
line. |
