Railroad Accident |
Again it has become our
painful duty to chronicle another accident on the railroad which
resulted in killing four soldiers and ??? others. It occurred between
Milledgeville and Gordon {Eatonton Branch of the
Central (of Georgia) RR} on yesterday. This road has just been
rebuilt -- has not been running more than three weeks. It seems most
unaccountable to us that, without some neglect, so many accidents of
this nature should occur -- and that, too, when the road is so newly
rebuilt. Those directing and controlling the railroads should look into
these things, and when neglect appears, should deal rigidly with the
parties. We have no brave soldiers to loose at this juncture of our
affairs by carelessness or otherwise. |
