We learn from the Selma
Reporter that on Saturday morning last, trains having on board 2,100
Federal prisoners, captured by Forrest, ran off the track not far from
Okolona {Mobile & Ohio RR}. Fifty
prisoners, with a few of the guard, were killed or wounded. It is
reported that in the confusion of the moment many prisoners escaped. |
