The Floods |
We were visited on Monday
night by one of the heaviest falls of rain, accompanied by strong winds
ever known in this section of country, at least during many years past.
***** |
We heard it rumored during the
day yesterday that Bull Creek, some three miles from the city, was
washed away, and on enquiring at the Muscogee depot ascertained that
some three quarters of a mile of the Muscogee Railroad near that stream
was so damaged as to prevent the running of trains. Superintendent
Clarke informed us that he would have damages at that point repaired by
tonight, and if there be no other serious breaks in the road we presume
the trains will resume schedule time in a day or two, though it may
require several days. |
