| Fatal Accident on the Virginia & Tennessee Railroad |
| On Saturday last, one of the trains on the
Virginia & Tennessee Railroad, which was loaded with troops, ran off the
track near Marion, in Smythe county, resulting in the killing and
wounding of several of the volunteers. The following is a list of the
casualties: Of the Palmetto Guards, A. J. Bond was killed; F. Winekle
and S. Burton were dangerously injured; and G. W. Preitt and A. J.
Griffith were slightly injured. Of the Georgia volunteers, Jim Hestelile,
William Chrisholm and S. Bl S?owers were slightly injured. |
