| The Boiler Explosion on the South Carolina Railroad |
| Corner Whiting, on Saturday, concluded his
investigation of the boiler explosion on the South Carolina Railroad, by
which the engineer, John Fitzhugh, and the fireman, J. W. Reials, were
killed. The Jury rendered a verdict of accidental death in the cases
mentioned; and gave it as their opinion that the explosion was caused by
a lack of water in the boiler. The wood work encasing the boiler, and
the signboard, gave evidence of this fact, as they were much charred,
which could only result from the cause mentioned. |
