Serious Accident to a Member of the 14th Regiment S. C.
V. |
A young man named Richardson, of Company
C, Capt. West, from Edgefield, S. C., was standing on the top of one
the box cars in company with a number of his fellow soldiers, as the
train approached the depot, and unfortunately stood so near the edge,
that when the train received a sudden check from the engine, he was
thrown between two cars, and falling on the rail, had one of his legs
very badly crushed by the wheel of the car. We understand that the
limb was so badly crushed, that in conjunction with the shock to his
system, the unfortunate man's condition will be rendered very
critical. He was immediately conveyed to the Confederate hospital on
Washington street, where every attention was shown. |
