| The New Railroad Rule |
| We hear that the rule adopted by the N. E.
Railroad, in accordance with the orders of Gen. Trapier, to prevent
certain gentlemen, who are over solicitous about the uncertainties of
life, from sending off their valuables, becomes a hardship in certain
instances. Charleston is the great depot for medicines, to which the
physicians of this and the adjoining States look for supplies. But,
under the new regulation, medicines, unless for army use, cannot be
sent. We think it would be well that the rigor of the rule in this and
like cases be tempered, or great distress may result. |
