| Col. J. W. Merideth, the
veteran Conductor on the Augusta branch of the South Carolina Railroad,
has retired from his position, after twenty-two years successful
service. Colonel Merideth, however, has not abandoned the railroad, as
he has accepted the appointment of Despatcher in Augusta. Mr. J. E.
Thames, of the Columbia branch, succeeds the retiring Colonel. Among the
very able and gentlemanly corps of Conductors on the South Carolina
road, there is none more deservedly popular than Mr. Thames, and the
many weekly visitors to Columbia and other points on this branch will
very much regret his transfer. |
