Miraculous Escape |
On Wednesday last, Mr. J. N. Barker, of
this county, was approaching the railroad crossing {Memphis,
Clarksville & Louisville RR} on the Russellville Turnpike,
about the time for the Louisville train to pass, with a horse and
buggy. He heard the train coming and stopped his horse; but the animal
became alarmed and dashed into the track just in time to be hit by the
locomotive, the horse, buggy and driver were scattered
indiscriminately about. Mr. Barker was considerably but not
dangerously hurt, the horse was badly cut, and the vehicle knocked to
pieces. Under the circumstances, Mr. B. Was most fortunate in escaping
destruction. |
