Notice! |
To Owners of Negroes and Others |
Whereas, the President and Directors of the Louisville
& Nashville Railroad, on the 1st day of August, 1860, passed the
following resolution. |
"Resolved, That no person of
color be taken in the cars for passage over any part of the Road or
its Branches without the execution of an obligation signed by a
responsible party or parties, to indemnify and save the company
harmless for so doing." Therefore all parties will take notice
that persons of color will not be taken on the cars of this company,
for Points on the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, unless some
person of responsibility known to the Agents of the Company, executes
such an obligation as above required. |
All persons of color wishing to go to and
from Stations on the Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville Railroad
must pave Passes or permits from some person of responsibility,
known to the Agents or Conductor of the company, and must be
recognized by some equally responsible party as the person mentioned
in the paper. All permits must state the Stations top which the
Negroes desire to go, and will be taken up by the Agent who furnishes
the tickets for the trip. |
