A Locomotive Factory |
Our statement of the imperative demand for
a Locomotive Factory has received assent and promises of co-operation
from some who had not previously given attention to the subject. One
condition alone is now wanted to give shape and practical beginning to
the enterprise -- that is, general aid and co-operation from our leading
Rail Roads. They will be requested and invited in good time to extend
such aid, either in stock or in orders, as may be preferred, or in a
guarantee and pledge that, if the enterprise is established fully and
early peace should re-open foreign markets, the orders of Southern Rail
Roads would not be given to Northern and foreign shops for locomotives. |
Is this asking too much? |
