The gap in the Alabama and Florida Railway
{the Alabama & Florida (of Florida) RR and
the Alabama & Florida (of Alabama) RR}, which is the direct
route between Montgomery and Pensacola, and which commences about
sixty miles from the first-named city, is being rapidly completed. The
fund of fifteen thousand dollars requisite for the prosecution of the
work was advanced by the Confederate States, on condition of its
completion by May 15th, and the road to conduct the transport of
troops and supplies by way of compensation for the loan. These facts,
in addition to the aspect of affairs at Washington, are very pregnant
of significant indications of the foreclosure of that dilatory process
which has estopped the action of our Commissioners. |
