| Transportation of Dead Bodies |
| Macon, June 4, 1862 |
| |
| After date, remains of
deceased persons will only be carried on Passenger Trains of the
Central, Macon & Western and South Western Railroads and branches,
when enclosed in a metallic coffin and placed in a box filled with
charcoal. Regular passenger fare must be pre-paid, and accompanied by
a responsible person. |
| Bodies will be taken by
Freight Trains in wooden coffins, enclosed in a box filled with
charcoal. Fare -- same as by Passenger Train -- must be pre-paid, and
must be in charge of a responsible person. |
| Soldiers dying in their
country's service, will be carried on Freight Trains free, when in
charge of an escort -- not otherwise. |
| The warm weather now upon us,
renders the above regulations absolutely imperative, and no deviation
therefrom will be permitted by Agents or Conductors. |
