Railroad Detentions |
The {Atlanta
&} West Point mail train which left here at 8 o'clock, A.
M., yesterday, had to turn back at East Point. A train conveying the
Yankee prisoners to Griffin, which General Mitchell refused to accept
a few days ago, had preceded the mail train; and the engine of the
train carrying the prisoners had run off the track, consequently the
mail train could proceed no further and came back. |
The Macon train was also
detained two or three hours. It left here at the usual time, but met
the train containing the prisoners coming back here, (having got the
engine on the track again) and had to turn back also. No one was
seriously injured. |
