Tribute to Those Who Pursued the Engine
Thieves {on the Western &
Atlantic RR} |
We have before us a paper
signed by a number of the best citizens of Kingston, in which they pay
a well merited tribute to the unflagging energy of Wm. A. Fuller, A.
Murphy, J. Cain, C. A. Smith and Wiley Harbin, in the pursuit of the
engine-stealing bridge-burners. The men who have signed this paper
were eye-witnesses -- some participating in the chase -- and say that
language would fail to express the just need of praise to the
exertions of each and all these men; and they especially commend Mr.
Fuller to Governor Brown and the people of Georgia for the unusual
energy and good judgment displayed by him, which they say has saved
the State perhaps three millions of dollars -- looking at the subject
in no other than a pecuniary light. |
