The State Road {Western
& Atlantic RR} train did not arrive last evening;
consequently, we have no mail from the West. We have no papers from
Memphis since the 14th. We learn that the train due here last night,
was pressed into the service of the Government -- for what specific
purpose, we did not ascertain. There is evidently the most active
operations going on in both East and West Tennessee, and a fight is
expected at an early day. |
