Coal Lands for Sale |
As Agent for the Tennessee
River Mining, Manufacturing and Transportation Company, I will offer
for sale at par, on the 18th instant, at the Bank of Augusta, Augusta,
Ga., Five Hundred Thousand Dollars worth of the stock of said Company. |
The property consists of 1,700
acres of fine Coal Lands, lying in Marion county, Tennessee, on the
North side of Tennessee River, near the mouth of Battle Creek, five
miles above Bridgeport, and four miles below the town of Jasper,
formerly known as the Coal Banks of G. W. Rice, which have been
partially opened and worked for many years; the Railroad from
Bridgeport to Jasper, being nearly graded, passes directly in front of
the Mines {the Sequatchie Valley RR}. |
These mines were carefully
selected years ago, as the best that could be found, both for quality
of Coal and facilities of transportation. The titles are perfect, and
the whole property placed under a good charter and stocked at
$1,000,000. |
As soon as the above sale is
made, I will give the Company $25,000, free of charge, to put the
Mines in active operation. |
The present owners are John P.
King, of Augusta, Wm. L. Mitchell, of Athens, Ga., David Westfield and
John Edmondson of Murray County, Ga., and myself. |
Wm. L. Mitchell is President
of the Company, and purchasers are referred to him and John P. King,
or Edward White, of Atlanta, for further information. |
Persons wishing to examine for
themselves, prior to the 18th inst., will find me at home, ready to
accompany them to the Mines. |
