It is said that a meeting of
Railroad officers from the Southern States will be held here early
next month, with a view to initiating the necessary measures to
procure a supply of railway iron. Messrs. H. J. Maijne & Co., of
this place, have just put into operation an oil factory, and I
understand they supply a good article for railroad purposes. They have
also engaged in the manufacture of glue. The military operations of
the Government depend so much upon the efficiency of our lines, of
railway, that everything which relates to them is a matter of public
interest. |
