A band of bridge burners is
again operating in the vicinity of Dalton, Ga. {on
the Western & Atlantic RR} One has been arrested and given
a full account of the intended plan of operations of these agents of
our relentless enemies. They purpose not only burning railroad
bridges, but to destroy the Government depositories at Chattanooga,
Marietta and Atlanta. Perhaps even now Col. Cliff may have a few
agents of the same sort about Knoxville. The city guard cannot be too
watchful. |
