Notice to Shippers |
The constantly advancing price
of all supplies used on Railroads, renders an increase in the rate of
transporting freight absolutely necessary to enable the Roads to keep
their machinery, &c., in effective condition to do the work. All
the Western roads have already advanced. |
Therefore, on and after the
15th instant, the "Rates of Freight" will be increased
Twenty (20) per cent on the rates now in use, dated September 1, 1861,
and signed Geo. W. Adams, General Superintendent Central Railroad. |
The 20 per cent increase will
not apply to car loads of Coal or Stock. |
By "Passenger
Train," one to three horses or mules will be charged double local
rate;' more than three will be charged one and a half local rate. |
Horses or mules, less than a
car load, for the Confederate States or State of Georgia, consigned to
an officer of either, will be charged full local rates, of each Road,
by Freight Train. |
